Kidding season is an incredibly exciting time on the homestead! But, waiting for those highly anticipated babies can feel like watching paint dry. There are several signs of goat labor, or that labor is looming and you need to keep a closer eye on your doe. Watch my short and sweet video below on signs to look for to know if your goat is going to kid soon! Just a side note, Audrey kidded the night I filmed this video 🙂
Just remember that every goat and every kidding is different. You may see some of these signs, or all of them. The timing of labor after seeing them will certainly change from goat to goat and kidding to kidding. In this particular kidding with Audrey, her ligaments got incredibly soft but they never were fully gone to the point that she had a broken tail appearance. She still kidded twelve hours after filming the ligament portion of this video though! These signs do not have a timeline cast in stone, they just give you a heads up to keep a very close eye on her because she will kid soon!
